Find the former imperial city of Hue in central Vietnam. It is a very popular tourist destination for its historical and cultural wealth. The city is located between the coast of the South China Sea and the foothills of the Truong Son Mountains. The so-called "perfume river" flows through the city itself.
Sights and attractions
The Citadel, or Forbidden City, can be found right in the center of the city and is easily accessible on foot from the touristic part of the city. The old imperial city belongs to the UNESCO list. They built it between 1803-1833. The last imperial dynasty lived here until 1925. Unfortunately, the citadel was devastated by the French (1947) and the Americans (1968). Some parts have already been restored, but most are still being repaired. A tour of the city will definitely take you 2-3 hours, so take plenty of water with you. You can arrange a guided tour on the spot.
If after visiting the Citadel you feel like visiting other pagodas, you will find several around Hue. For example, you can see the Thien Mu (Queen of Heaven) Pagoda during a dragon boat cruise on the Huong River (Perfume River). They named the river after flowers falling into the river from nearby orchards. However, you will have to judge for yourself whether this is a fragrant river.
During your stay, don't miss a visit to the local market, where you can buy everything you can think of. Here you can taste local specialties such as "Bún Bo Hue" or buy a souvenir in the form of spices, a typical Vietnamese hat or something else. If you would like to go to the beach from Hue, expect that the journey will take you about 30-40 minutes (distance about 20 km).
For adventure lovers, we recommend a visit to the "Ho Thuy Tien Water Park", which was opened in 2004. Unfortunately, the lack of visitors has turned it into a ghost town. Here you can take a walk through the closed, dilapidated, overgrown park...

Poem about Hue invented by artificial intelligence
In the city of Hue, where the past sings with a low voice,
Traces of ancient kings remain in the castle walls.
The Perfumed River leads its peaceful dance,
Between pagodas and gardens, where memories snow like flowers.
In the imperial palaces, where history breathes in every stone,
The golden shadows of the sun and the scent of jasmine create a seductive dream.
Hue, the city of culture and spiritual beauty,
Where tradition and modernity come together in quiet harmony.
Where the streets glow with the colorful glow of candles,
And the sounds of the gongs carry on into the silence of the faraway.
In the heart of Vietnam, where peace and tranquility meet,
Hue, the city we carry with love in our hearts.
